Oh wow, hey. I almost forgot what it was like in here!!! Anyway, I’M BAAAAAACK!!!!! Took some time off for some self-care and get my focus back. However, I am back and ready to review pizza, provide cooking tips and random thoughts over coffee!!!!
So let us talk about #PizzaProject because I do not think I have ever taken the time to properly explain it. I love pizza, I love everything that has to do with pizza culture. I love the story, the simplicity, and the nuances of it. So much so, that I decided it was my lifes mission to try every slice of pizza I can get my hands on. At the same time, I want to help others find good pizza, so I decided that I would do reviews of pizza.
When I started this, I wanted to do something that would help people understand what makes a good slice of pizza, well, good. I also did not want my reviews to be similar to those of Barstool’s One Bite Pizza Reviews because let’s face it those are garbage. I wanted to break down pizza into basic elements and deep dive into those elements.
In order to do this, I decided that for review purposes I would only review basic pizza, so reviews are based on cheese or pepperoni pizza. The two most common and iconic types of pizza. I then thought about what makes good pizza good. I came up with 5 categories that pizza should be graded on;
- Cheese – taste, how it felts, greasy or not, etc.
- Sauce – flavor, texture, etc
- Cheese to Sauce ratio – What is the balance between the amount of cheese and sauce
- Crust – Color, is it burnt? is it too light? Does the slice hold up or flop? etc.
- Overall appearance – We eat with our eyes first so what is the overall appearance of the pizza
Each category gets graded on a scale of 1-5 and then an overall score is the average of all 5 categories.
I invite you to join me on this pizza journey and send me your suggestions for pizza joints in your area.
