It is that time of the year. Thanksgiving is a few weeks away which means Christmas and New Years is right around the corner. With that comes the thought process of planning for the year to come. This year I am getting a head start and not waiting for the “Holiday Season” to start making goals and plans for the new year. Why put off until tomorrow, what I can get done today!
One of the biggest goals I have for 2018 is to grow my blog as well as my personal brand. To do this, I need to put out content regularly. For the first time ever in my blogging career, I am going to attempt to blog on a schedule. Challenges I already have for this is that I have never been one to pre-plan blogs and I just like to write when the mood hits me. I am learning, however, that this does not allow for growth and development as posts tend to come out sporadically without any consistency. The only way to garner attention and build a following is to produce content that my audience wants to see and read.
Along with putting out more blog content, I want to up my Social Footprint. I want to garner more attention on social platforms utilizing Instagram and Facebook mostly. I intend to do this with video and photo content mostly.
But what about other social platforms?
Good question. While Gary Vaynerchuk preaches that you need to be on all platforms to build a brand, I disagree to a certain extent. Allow me to explain; Putting out content on every social platform would certainly grow my audience and put eyes on my content that may not ever have seen it otherwise. However, I do not see value on every platform for my own content. What value is there for me on Pinterest? As a technology and lifestyle blogger, it can be argued that the value is in creating boards about things I write about. However, that takes time. That brings me to my next point; time!!!
My biggest goal for 2018 and the remainder of 2017 is to carve out more time. More time for family, more time to focus on my health and wellness, but more importantly more time to focus on growing the blog and brand into something profitable. It is hard to do this when I have to also work a full-time job in order to pay my bills. However, I am focused on making more time for the things I love.
These are my goals for 2018 and the remainder of 2017. It starts now. It was started already. I have successfully put out video content every Sunday for the past few weeks and will continue to do so. I also plan to put out blog content at least once a week and growing to twice a week. I am still trying to figure out if my brand and my personal life are separate or one in the same. For now, they are equal but only time will tell.
