Amazon, the world’s most popular online retailer, has joined forces with one of the most popular social media platforms – Twitter.
Amazon announce yesterday that now you can add items to your cart through Twitter, once your account has been activated. If you see a tweet with an Amazon product link, simply reply to that tweet using #AmazonCart and it will add it directly to your cart for purchase at a later date.
I like this idea. I think it has a lot of potential. I already use the Amazon app and barcode scanner to add items to my wish list all the time. Now with this new feature I can do the same thing if I see a product in twitter. Personally I just wish it went to a wish list and not my cart but that is a minor issue.

I think that this technology is really neat, and has a lot of potential, however, I see drawbacks. Basically it allows people to purchase something so quickly — that there is little time for thought or deliberation in respect to budget and spending, etc. Yes, at the end of the day it is the individual’s responsibility to handle this and keep up with their individual budget. However, people (especially younger folks) are not great with budgeting and finances…. I, myself was horrible. Having this available to me when I was younger would have been a disaster for me…

All this tech does is place the item in the cart it does not purchase it through twitter. They than still have to log into Amazon to purchase it

I understand that. To me, it just makes it easier to spend money.
